Why does everyone try the thorny path if offshore is an option. I can understand if you are already in the Bahamas and then decide to head east, but if you are in a position to take the offshore...

Isnt there a boat that was designed with a cutaway keel. I remember seeing here on cruisersforum. Manufacturer designed it as such and you could just cut a predetermed piece of the keel away.

Going back and forth over the cutting board route vs the build a dam and high density filler.

Isn`t starboard and cutting boards the same? polyethylene?
