re: Anyone actually living on a Lagoon 42?

The 12 V Water Maker works fine without the generator on. The solar power will keep up with water generation. As a couple we run the Water Maker every other day.

re: Anyone actually living on a Lagoon 42?

Of course the biggest difference is the sail configuration. With the mast moved amid ship it changes all the sailing characteristics between the 450 and the 42. 450 owners generally don’t like the...

re: Anyone actually living on a Lagoon 42?

The traveler goes across the full rear Bimini. I’d guess about 15 feet.

Everyone out here likes their boat. I think it’s most important to understand the boat you buy, and know that you will like...

Anyone actually living on a 42?

My wife and I currently live full-time on a lagoon 42. While storage is a challenge on any boat, we get by really well on this boat. My wife is really good at finding space saving items that makes...

Re: Astrea 42 vs Lagoon 42, Comparison from Cannes

One of the largest differences between the boats is the Lagoon mast placement with their reason for moving the mast aft, along with the helm lay out on the FP42. Theses boats have very different...

Re: Thinking of New L42 Order, What do I include from the factory?

Yea, that is still on the table for us. Emerald Sea would have been perfect! just available a little too soon. I will not have all the money for a used boat until the house is sold, so 6 months to a...

CatNewBee,

Thanks for your input. Looking at your posts I see you have a lot of experience with electrical systems, it’s my weakest area of knowledge. I find it intimidating. I have a lot of...

Re: Thinking of New L42 Order, What do I include from the factory?

Thanks Mark,

Sounds like a really sensible way to think about the list.

With the RIB. The CL 340 seems fine, but I'm not sure I want the Honda. (I'm sure there great) Then of course there is...

Thinking of New L42 Order, What do I include from the factory?

My wife and I are considering getting in line and ordering a new Lagoon 42 Owners Version for extended cruising. No kids, retired at 58, but crew and guests will be expected. We need to sell up and...

My wife and I are ready to book a bare boat charter with captain and ASA114 in Mid June in the Bahamas. Will I be able to negotiate off from the advertised price?

How about the damage deposit? ...

Re: big performance cruising cat capsizes

I needed the sarcasm font. I agree with you, it always seems to go the same way. I get it, I was joking (not very well science I’m explaining) every one makes their own choices for their own reasons.

Hurricane Damaged Boats Available

Maybe a better approach is what is needed.

A group of Marine Service Professionals currently have openings for a few new clients in our Saint Martin yard. We are available to repair hurricane...

Re: Hurricane Damaged Boats Available

Scam is a bit harsh I think. There’s a lot of opportunity to lose money on good intentions poorly thought out or carelessly planned.

For example 12 month build time? Just in time to survive next...

Re: Hurricane Damaged Boats Available

I’m far from an expert! The idea of a team of professionals repairing these boats has merit.

I have a friend who buys totaled cars and repairs and resells them with a salvage title. He is a...

Re: Hurricane Damaged Boats Available

What would be the risks in such an arrangement?

Hidden or undiscovered boat damage. Underestimated repair cost. Salvage title? Repair shop closes. Yard/marina fees while waiting for...

Re: Hurricane Damaged Boats Available

Are insurance companies totaling boats when 250k will repair them? It may be more expedient for them because of the sheer number of boats damaged?

Good luck on your business.

I'm in the process of evaluating a purchase in the next year. Your thinking on your purchase is very helpful. I'm trying to evaluate the risks of "the worst financial decision". I have a low...

Re: 2019 Saba Ordered!

Very interesting evaluation of the "Boat as a Business" model. I think your accountants have done well for you and you have done solid planing. I have not spent time evaluating the model, but have...

Re: Used Cat Market Going Forward

It sounds like insurance is the key. What they choose to do will determine the market reaction. Maybe it's not the yachts that will determine the price, but the insurance that will determine the...

Re: Used Cat Market Going Forward

Could the spread between owners versions and charter version cats tighten? I imagine most of the destroyed yachts are charter four cabin versions, and there has always been a premium for owners...

Used Cat Market Going Forward

My best guess is that volatility and risk is what may come. The cost of a bad decision could be very high, say buying a salvage boat unknowingly that is in much worse shape than presumed against the...
