Re: Can you ID this yacht?

Yep - just had that conversation with one of our members. I just ordered a stainless sleeve from McManus and Carr here in LA. Can't get the good stuff unless you know of a catalog that can deliver. ...

Boat does have a HIN but it comes back with conflicting info. The first four letters are FSEK and that got 2 hits on HIN lookup sites: either Freedom Seekers Pontoon Boats out of Alberquerqie NM, or...

Can you ID this yacht?

This was given to me by a neighbor. It is listed at the dmv as a '76 Sunsail. I can't find any literature on this vessel. Anyone recognize it?121692121693121694121695121696

Re: Chainplate R&R on a 1979 glass hull

Update: was able to chip away the glass with a hammer and chisel and knife. These don't look as bad as I thought. Probably should still be replaced after 37 years...

Re: Beneteau 473 Rudder Bearing Replacement

I had a Jenneau 54 DS come apart on me in the middle of the pacific once. This is unrelated to your vibration (I'm assuming), but maybe worth a look while you're in this project.

What happened was...

Re: Chainplate R&R on a 1979 glass hull

Thanks for the reply!

So, you were able to get the old chainplates out of the hull? How difficult was that? I ask because maybe I can just unbolt mine and slide them up and out...not likely but...

Re: Catalina Bluewater

Great boat, I raced one in SoCal for two seasons before another boat dismasted us and the insurance covered it. Our 1972 boat was valued at over 8500.00 by the agency...total loss payout.

I've had...

Re: Chainplate R&R on a 1979 glass hull

Interesting approach - I've heard it said before but I want to see it in practice. The logistical hurdle I see with this idea is: how to drill the holes precisely on the new plates when I can't...

Re: Chainplate R&R on a 1979 glass hull

What year is your Hans? Mine is a Union Polaris built in Ta Shing boatyard in Taiwan. We may have very similar constructions depending on your year. Mine is the Bob Perry design that the yard stole...

Chainplate R&R on a 1979 glass hull

Looks like I had better open these up and take a sample of how much corrosion is going on inside...the boat still sails great - but this looks like a potential trouble point.

Does anyone know why...

Re: Refer Insulation

Rustoleum has a spray rubberizor that I'm going to test out. Somehow I've got to make an attempt at sealing the foam. I have the tape, I'm going to apply that over the painted edges. Yes there are...

I plan to fill the gaps with spray foam and build an inside layer of frp and I'll join it with west systems and fiberglass mesh.

Re: Is Expedition Software off topic for this forum?

Yes it's a racing platform. I would get to know OpenCPN just as a way to understand all of the integration, if similar, but for free instead of 1300 bucks and time wasted. I haven't spent the money...
