Thanks, yes that makes sense. I put it on the pressure side after reading others talk of failed impellers causing problems. Lesson: Nothing replaces regular maintenance.

Thanks MS. The lid design, clamped by a single wing nut, doesn’t seem to allow for misalignment. Perhaps not clamped down hard enough. The lid is plastic and not wanting to risk damage only tightened...

Seawater strainer failure

After experiencing a blocked heat exchanger at sea I decided it was past time to fit a seawater strainer.
I did the job while on the hard and tested by running 40 litres of water from containers....

Update. Fixed it!
Turns out it was a blockage. Connected hose to pee pipe and back blasted. Reversed the flow then by connecting to the bottom end of the intake and got good flow out the pee pipe....

So, I ran some whipper snipper line up the witness tube but could only get the length that is outside the cowling.
I dropped the bottom off again and ran it up the tube inside the leg. I didn’t see...
