It is with embarrassment and regret that I must announce that I have to sell my boat.
Even more embarrassingly, I have to sell her off cheap!

Dozens of photos available, PM me and I'll send you...

Re: Inflatable Kayak vs SUP

Very happy with my Gumotex Palava. Kind of a tandem-kayak-canoe hybrid, French brand, Czech made:

Re: Tablet for navigation

Same here, very happy with my iPad 2 and Lifeproof case ( without screen protector).
I switched from the Navionics to Garmin Blue Chart app, because it integrates with Active Captain. The charts for...

I checked her blog, and she's sailing in the Pacific with her man and their dogs.
Here's her blog:

Re: Singlehanded Boat for the world

Just finished reading "Maiden Voyage" by Tania Aebi who did it in a Contessa 26. I bought the book because I recently bought a Contessa 26 myself.
IIRC both Jesse Martin and Jessica Watson used an...

Re: Impressions of the Baltic

Interesting, thanks.
Given that I'm almost at the SW tip of the UK (Plymouth), and feeling a little intimidated by the Channel traffic, I have looked at possibly sailing up the Irish Sea, past the...

Re: Impressions of the Baltic

Oooh, that IS a generous offer. I might just take you up on it. And your dates give me excellent motivation to get cracking.
Okay, that's now my new target; be at the start of the Kiel by 4th May,...

Re: Impressions of the Baltic

Thanks Dockhead,
Regarding the shipping lanes, is it any better to sail across to France or Belgium first, then coast hop up to Holland?
Might that mean fewer crossings of shipping lanes, and fewer...

Re: Impressions of the Baltic

I'm currently in the south west of the UK (near Plymouth) and have been really inspired by this thread.
I have the whole summer at my disposal and I'd like to head for the Baltic. I came here from...

Re: Sailing books to help get through the winter

Just finished "Sea Lord" by Bernard Cornwell, mentioned in an earlier post.
Great thriller based around sailing a 38 footer, I devoured it in two sittings.
He's written four other sailing based...

Re: Quest for the One Can Meal

Hmm, I like oats for breaky but a bowl with 50g of oats has only 5g protein - about 1/8th what's needed per meal.
I add vegetable protein powder to bring it up to my requisite 40g protein.
Plus...

Re: What is Your Favorite Quote?

Pertinent to some of the preceding flaming:

"Better to keep one's mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt."
Not sure, an Aussie politician said it in Parliament,...

Re: Website for your boat?

Indeed there is FB, but call me a Luddite and old cynic, I always remember the old saying:
If you're not paying for it you're not the customer, you're the commodity.

One tip about money and savings, I've spent the last year minding a friend's house and her cat, while she is in India doing the eat-pray-love malarkey.
No rent, just the bills, and I've been...

Re: Cruising blog - website templates

Interesting.
If the host owns the intellectual property, might one have a copyright problem if one later chooses to cobble posts together into a book?

Re: To Tack or Jibe???

I've only sailed on a couple of junks, and I'm buying one this month.
Gybing is a much simpler and less violent affair on a junk because a percentage (between 10 and 20) of the sail is forward of...
