Re: Yanmar Fuel Priming Woes

Whenever I'd bleed my yanmar 2qm15 I could never get it done by bleeding the injectors alone, it just wouldn't work. I found that by cracking the two fuel line nuts on top of the injector pump was...

Re: Yanmar 2qm15 hard start

TinkerNZ,
Don't know if this helps, but it's worth knowing that when bleeding the fuel lines on my 2qm15 I could not simply just follow the instruction manual procedure. Before cracking the...

Re: Stuffing Box Hose and Cutlass Bearing

I agree about Buck Algonquin, it's good quality. I got mine from the US along with a heap of other stuff I bought at the same time.

As for the zinc anode. I made my own anode because I couldn't...

PeelAway 8 is for Acrylics, Polyurethanes, Marine & Epoxy paints. I used it to strip my boat and it did a brilliant job.

Peel Away 1 is for Oil, Enamel & Lead paints

Re: Removing 1 part paint in prep for 2 part.

The brown stuff could be rust stains from metal deck fittings or something. I had the same brown rust stains on many areas of the non slip finish on my boat deck. It was easily removed with a mixture...

Re: Yanmar 2qm20 not starting troubleshooting

I found with my old 2qm15 starting problem that the Yanmar fuel pump was taking too long to bring the fuel up to the injectors each time I tried to start it.

I believe it was due to the length of...

Re: Removing 1 part paint in prep for 2 part.

I used Peel-Away 8 to strip the hull and deck on my boat.

https://www.peelaway.com.au/peel-away-8/

Brilliant stuff. Didn't harm the fibreglass, non toxic and eco friendly.

Re: Replace Yanmar Instrument Panel Type C

This is what I did for my yamnar diesel boat. Just knocked up a new panel out of aluminium, polished it up a bit, added the yanmar gauges and switches and threw in a few more switches and led lights....

Re: how to repair screw holes in fg for re-use

No there was no silicone. The problem lies in the fact that there's no access inside the gunwhale. Any epoxy that I squeeze through the screw hole just disappears as it dribbles or sags down inside....

Re: how to repair screw holes in fg for re-use

I've tried varies glues and putties similar to one Shrew suggests but they're not really successful because in my case they need to have pressure behind them inside the gunwhale to help them stick to...

Hi everyone,
I got a row of s/steel screw-in snap in press studs going around the gunwhale of my boat for securing the cockpit cover. Some of the screws have pulled out of the fibreglass and will no...

Re: Prop shaft stuffing box question

The collar anode I mentioned is custom made and fits behind the propellor and is almost hard up against the cutlass bearing, which is why I was concerned it might restrict the water getting into the...

Re: Prop shaft stuffing box question

Thanks for the reply.
So raw water just feeds into your stuffing box via your cutlass bearing and stern tube, is this right?

If so, that's how mine is currently setup, but I recently added...

Prop shaft stuffing box question

Hi,
My boat diesel engine is raw water cooled, and my prop shaft has a traditional bronze stuffing box which receives raw water from the stern tube to lubricate the packing gland material. I want to...

Yanmar 2qm confusion.

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a Yanmar 2qm15 and a Yanmar 2qm15G.

The reason I'm asking is because there seems to be a vast difference in the recommended prop size,...

Re: Fitting a Zinc Anode question

I took the prop off and cleaned it up...

Re: Fitting a Zinc Anode question

I'm located in Australia. I will be looking at fitting a new prop anyway because I wasn't happy with the one I had. I think it's the wrong size or pitch for the boat.

Thanks.
