    Hi Ruby Jean,

I wonder if I could take you on a quick memory trip down to your days with a Haïda 26?

I just purchased one, reportedly 1968. Flush deck.

It has to do with the gooseneck, the boom being very low with a stopper screwed into the mast groove only a few inches above the mast step.

I am thinking the boom should be much higher. Possibly the boltrope at the sail's luff is inserted in the enlarged groove in the mast, the sail is raised and then the boom pushed-up above the enlarged groove back into the small groove and locked in place with a "fitting".

I am thinking I am missing a "piece" of the puzzle.

Do you recall or perhaps have a picture, of how your system worked on your Haïda?

I am also looking for the original Haida logo so I could have it printed on my mainsail...

    Thanking you in advance.

    Kind regards,

    Alain

So we were based our of Eugene OR and sailing out of Port Hadlock WA.
That is until Halloween 2020, when we pulled up stakes and moved to Port Ludlow.
Current boat is a Mason 44, still in P Hadlock, only we're 15 minutes away not 5.5 hours away. Should make maintenance easier....

    Bluie East Two - 2014

"Bluie East Two - 2014" is a 151 minute long video diary filmed on our paddling journey on the magical east coast of Greenland.

Although you will continue to relax in the comfort of your favorite couch, this rather long video diary will bring you to each and every step of the endeavor, from the planning stage, to the post-scriptum. You'll be able to share the pain and the joy of the two nomads, their silly bad acting and the victories of solid team work.

This video diary is also a humble tribute to the Esprit de Corps, team work and, above all, to all the men and women in uniform.

Are you ready? Welcome aboard the "U-Boat", a Long Haul Mark II Commando tandem kayak!

Please, sing along, because the two nomads sure need a lot of help singing...

(completed and published on Veterans Day 2014)

Are you back in Oregon building your tri? I took a look at your blog and it appeared your previous cruise ended in Bodega Bay. We're currently in the Sea of Cortez cruising Mexico for a couple of more seasons.

Thank you for the well wishes, it's been a while in the planning, but it's coming together. A friend of mine did the SPOT thing on a trip in the Pacific last summer, great thing. I'll post the link when I'm ready on my profile. The Blog might be nice too, but I'm a little gun shy about having too much out here on the "inter-webs"..
    Cheers!

I didn't know there was a Christian sailing society. Where can I sign up.

Thanks I will do. I've been asking my wife to send me books dealing with sailing and sail boat magazines, and etc. It's always cool to have support one way or another. Sometimes I wonder if instead of jumping from planes if I should have joined the navy or something lol. But I will stay on this forum for sure and let everyone know when I get a boat. But it will be at least a year or more away. Have a nice day.

    Hi!!!

How are you two doing?? Well if you haven't guessed we didn't get south this year. We are currently in ?Ilwaco, Washington and will be spending the winter here. This spring we are planning on heading up to Alaska to establish residency and hopefully get some tourist/cannery jobs. We ran into a rough patch after leaving Eureka and discovered that in rough weather the deck leaked in spots we didn't know about (everyones bunks were wet and we were pretty miserable). So we decided to spend the winter repairing the deck and clearing out storage.

We have every intention of heading south next fall as the winters up here arn't a lot of fun. Keep in touch it would be a lot of fun to meet up with you when our paths cross again. We have fond memories of Eureka and you and Brenda.

    All the best,

    Peter and Family

    ps. how are the Islands??
