I am new to the form and new to sailboats, I am buying a live onboard sail boat in San Francisco it has been in the water for about 8 years without new bottom paint, but owner said he had it out 2.5 years ago and didn’t see anything and who ever cleans the boat hull has not seen anything wrong, obviously there could be issues. So first I can’t afford a true surveyor to inspect the boat, this is a 1973 and I’m not paying a lot for it, do you know of anyone who knows hulls that could give it a once over to just tell
Me what they see. Someone who won’t break the bank. 2nd I am pretty handy and have experience working and repairing fiberglass, but I’m finding that the boat yards I have talked too are not allowing any DIY work. Do you know of anywhere that will remove the 45 ft boat and allow DIY work? If not any recommendations on who might have the best prices on having them bottom paint/repairs

looking at your vast experience- can you recommend a bottom paint that you like? i will be in the gulf and then the Carribean- 51 foot gulfstar sailboat-- also i was thinking of taking a hooka set and a remora brush along with me when we leave in late fall/ early spring of 2022? worth the expense in your opinion- would appreciate your opinion - thanks

Fast Bottoms, Was hoping you could help me solve this. I'm getting ready to paint my bottom and was looking to see what the previous owner had used for the last job. The receipt from the yard is difficult to read but something close to Bohemprin or perhaps Benemprin. Neither show up on a google search. Either of those look familiar to you?
    Thank you

    Hello,

I’m outfitting our new boat with a new hookah system. Can you please recommend a high quality 110v compact compressor that’ll service one or two divers near the mothership each with 100ft of hose doing shallow dives to no more than forty feet, generally less than 30 feet.

    Thanks

    Ken

    That's what my daughter said,
"Five years I've been having sex without protection. Now I'm pregnant. I just don't understand how it could happen."

I was hoping you could shed some light on some questions I have and you seem to be the only forthright hull cleaner around.
    Thank you very much

Sorry to bother you but I ordered what I thought was going to be a two piece rope cutter from Beneteau. The told me a diver could install it.

They sent me a one piece. Is it possible to remove the prop on a 30mm shaft and install this rope cutter?

    Tom
