Westies. There's another boat moored near us which is called West Highlander and has another pair of them and a 3rd boat in a slip which has 3! You should see the party when they all meet up!

Some of you may be aware of the thread http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...elp-13838.html that dealt with a puppy and a macaw stranded aboard a disabled motorsailor that then ran aground on the fringing reef at Fanning Island in the Republic of Kiribati the first week of December '07. You may also be aware that the malnourished dog was rescued from the island April 9th, and has come to live with me.

So while I haven't been to sea with this little guy yet, he's probably got more sea miles than many of the members of this forum, having sailed and drifted more than 100 days last year - and he's only about 10-11 months old! These two photos show him after Norwegian Cruise Lines' Pride of Aloha took him to Hawai'i in mid-April, then a close shot from today, out on the golf course.

Then I guess if your Cooper had a litter of pups, they would all be Mini-Coopers.

I'm not a fluent speaker of Australian, but let me guess: S is for Sheila.

We have a 7 month old German Shorthaired that loves being on the boat. He'll walk all the way up to the bow pulpit even with the boat healed hard over. Then when he gets tired he'll head below for a nap. Only thing is, when we're anchored out having a swim, he doesn't like to be put into the water. He will immediately head for the swim ladder if you toss him in. Hopefully, this is just a stage and he will become more accustomed to actually being in the water as he gets older.

Another Schipperke here. He's on his second tour of duty now, having spent the first 6 years of his life living aboard our last boat. Now he's 12 and a half and moves a lot slower, but still has his sea legs.
Russelmania, I don't worry too much about the swimming part. Our little man was never big on the swimming, he just likes to wade out chest deep off of the beach. There's that old saying, "The best Captain is the one who doesn't know how to swim, because he's gonna make damn sure the boat gets back to port!!!"

Thank you so much, Brad. Yes, he's recovered nicely, and now has a bright sparkle in his eye and a bounce in his step. Here are a couple more pics, including one with Missy, my 12-year-old foundling from the streets of Burbank.

Coop, Coop, Coop . . . you're preaching to the choir. When I was 22, I owned a 1967 Austin Cooper S, with a 1275cc engine bored out to 1293cc. That's why I knew you meant "S," not "es." If you had meant to lead the reader to the feminine suffix, you should have written "ess."

Get it?

TaoJones

PS: It was the sale of my beloved Mini Cooper S in the late spring of 1975 that financed my "one-man-cruise" from Colorado to Europe that summer - the one that Time Magazine referred to as "The Golden Summer of Europe," notable for the paucity of rain.
