Claude_Marie suggested advertising on an "au pair" site. Our friends who hired a nanny for their crossings from Tahiti to Australia, found her through "nanny" ads. I'm not sure what the differences, if any, are between au pairs and nannies. Our friends were well pleased, and it left J time to sail the boat, read, etc.

Obviously one with teaching credentials would expect more pay.

IMHO,
Nanny : Qualified/credentials is an employee (work contract, eligible to work : Green card if foreign ), can deal with new born babies.
In a perfect world can teach manners, corrects miss pronounciation, wrong grammar and inapropriate language.
But not really a teacher.
Long time contract a year and more.
Not necesseraly in a live in position.

Au pair : from a foreign origin, is not an employee (no Green card needed), has no qualification to deal with new born.
Does not get paid but gets pocket money, "works" short shift.
Does not really teach the kids, but speaks with them in a foreign language ( English native speakers very much in demand in non English speaking countries) take them to the play ground...etc.
Is regarded and treated as a member of the familly, lives in.
Applicants are typically university students taking a year off and having an interest in improving their (foreign) language skills.
Short time contract due to visa issues (less than a year).
