Smartspace ? Any Users ?

Anyone out there used or using the SmartSpace cookware?

SmartSpace Cookware

What brands, other than Magma, should I be looking at? Or forget nesting and just bring good quality regular pots/pans...

Re: Smartspace ? Any Users ?

I use a couple of Pampered Chef omlet pans and a set of nesting cookware I got from west marine about 15 years ago. Good quality pans in the right size and type for how you cook is more important than having a set that you only use 2 or 3 and the rest gather dust. A pressure cooker is also a great thing for cooking on a boat. They cook faster so use less fuel or in my case less generator time, also less heat in the boat in the summer months.

+1 on pressure cookers. I recommend the fagor brand. You can buy them on eBay for $40. They have one that can be used as a frying pan.

Unless storage space is very limited, bring your good pots and pans. I had the nesting type for 8 years and finally gave those away and bought Silit set last spring. It is such a pleasure to again have really high-quality cookware rather than the lesser quality nesting type. If you enjoy cooking, get or keep the best quality you can. Not something to skimp on unless space is critical. Also, pressure cooker is a must-have on our boat. I use it daily.

Re: Smartspace ? Any Users ?

Though I'm still looking for my boat, I do tend to agree that space is the primary factor followed closely by personal choice. This was the first I've heard of Smartspace, but they do look convenient (Thanks for giving me something else to think about!). As for the "good" pans, I'm still a bit concerned about corrosion on my copper clad pans. I know i'm digressing from the main thread, so i'll stay on topic. I guess it really comes down to personal preference on your and your mate's part.
