Well and I have to admit that I would probably not searched for this myself if the question had occurred to me. Who would have guessed such an obscure subject had been covered in a prior thread?

I think I spend way too much time on this forum.

Thanks, you can but them online. I got the last ones on Amazon. I tried the 38 but it's too small. Looking forward to ordering some 51 soon.

Re: Funny, I lost my p38 emergency can opener...

I use this - at home as well.

They are not folding, bigger than the P38/58, and are made from stainless steel. My mother had one from before I was born, and I bought myself one when I moved out 23 years ago. It's a really good and simple can opener that doesn't take up much room, but always works. Of course it is not pocketable, but for the galley it is perfect, in my opinion.

I have seen cheaper imitation ones, made from alu, or what I would call "tin" (sheet metal, more like), but this one just keeps going.

Edit: The one in the picture is a left-hander. Mine is a right hander.

How about this deal for $6.49 for TWENTY-FIVE!

That's a lot cheaper than the four years they used to cost.

Re: Funny, I lost my p38 emergency can opener...

My original P-38 went to the Wall a few years ago, but it was worn out after 40 years of use so I thought it best to retire it. Now I use the hook nose blade on my Case stock mans knife. I can open a can in nothing flat!
