Eggs

Does anyone have first hand knowledge that eggs on a vessel from the U.S. will be confiscated and not allowed into Mexico. I have read conflicting reports on this matter.

when i was boarded by mexican navy we were not bothered about our foodstuffs----they were looking for noncolmpliance with mexican fishing regs and for contrabands, not foodstuffs--goood luck.....downwind marine has a booklet for cruisers who go to mexico--is a good one......should tell what are the newest policies....

I've been boarded by the Mexican Navy once several years ago. It happens frequently for San Diego boats fishing in Mexican waters.

As someone above mentioned, they are primarily looking for firearms, fishing equipment, drugs, and people. They were very polite, and the whole thing was over in 20 minutes with a little slip of paper saying we we passed an inspection.

I was planning to have atleast two dozen on board. I understand that eggs are plentyful in Mexico so there is really no need to stock up with an excessive amount. The reason for my question is that I had recently read in a guide book that Mexico prohibits eggs coming in from the U.S.

I must have, and am not able to exist without my eggs.

besides the worst that will happen is they are confiscated. right? by then you will be there and can purchase more. or boil them the morning you arrive and make eggsalad of the ones left at the end of the passage. cooked foodstuff is rarely an issue.
