Re: Caribbean booze prices ?

Varies quite a lot depending on where in the Carib and the grade of rum you prefer to drink. Even mediocre booze in Belize is crazy expensive, but some great stuff here in Guatemala at reasonable prices.

Ron Botran 12 year (top shelf grade mixing rum, or even a lightly mixed sipping rum) less the $10US per bottle. This is our usual daily cocktail rum.

Ron Botran Zacapa Centenario (strictly a high-end sipping rum -- mixing is a sin -- one of the finest on the planet), made here in Guate, but a bit spendy even here at about Q350 (about $44US), but worth every penny. A few ounces of Centenario over ice and a good cigar -- perfect way to end the day.

Ron Botran Reserva is also quite nice and less expensive than Centenario.

In our experience wine is best and the cheapest in French St Martin/Guadeloupe - expect to pay EUR 3-5 for a nice bottle of [French] wine.

Re: Caribbean booze prices ?

We don't even want to talk about the price of beverages in the Turks and Caicos. outrageously high with 40% import duties. Good thing I don't drink solvents.
