I wasn’t sure if this was going to be a Polish sailor joke or a Polish Catamaran joke.
Apparently neither.

Re: Polish sailor adrift 7 months on modified lifeboat

Wow, roomy boat! But, all black, no windows... sounds like a 7 month sauna. And that nice smooth whale-back deck with no life-lines? I am surprised he's still on the boat. And think of walking on that in bare feet on a nice sunny day. I feel sorry for the cat!
The mast, as it is, looks fine. I wonder what "broke down?"

I could not help but noticing the "spotted several ships but the battery on my radio was dead.’

Probably there is a lesson here, about emergency and communications equipment, redundancy and so on ...

All that flat deck space and no solar panel to recharge that battery?

Rig intact but something is broken? Rudder? Crude steering with just sails not an option?

Questionable time adrift?

Was he feeding the cat Chinese soup rations?

Another dingbat?

These sort of stories are becoming all too common, no? At least this one looks about as sunburnt and half-starved as you'd expect, unlike the spa-treatment duo.

I once owned a converted navy whaleboat. I have fond memories of The Delphi Tramp. Now we live at 5 feet above sea level in the tsunami zone created by the nearby Cascadia fault, so we have a Cape Dory 25 anchored to our yard with 300 feet of 5/16s chain, just in case.

Me thinks Zbigniew Reket should contact the 2 Hawaiian lady dingbats and form a new age family nucleus.

Then they can all write a book and go on the Ellen DeGeneres show as "cruising advisers for the woo woo guru sailor".

Back in the 80'S, while working offshore Bruni [next to E.Malasia], i heard about a guy converting a steel life boat to a sailing vessel, so looked him up, The English man had done a very professional job converting her to a Sloop, by adding a keel, ect. and he a his Wife did a circumnavigation.

That is impressive. seriously.

But, it begs a question: "Did the Lifeboat have a liferaft?"
