Wow, thanks for posting that. Took some skill even to get out past the surf at shore (reminded me of that tom hanks movie Castaway..."Wilson!"). I assume the camera angles or perspective skewed some things - like I expected the outboard would have chewed up the sailor or at least the hull, but it must have been controlled or kept at a greater distance than it looked.

I cant believe the boat has no boarding ladder, swim platform or any other way to get back on board. Would have made the whole thing a lot easier.

I wonder if they realized how close to death they were? I think the primary mistake was waiting too long to get back onto their boat. A friend spent several days at Pitcairn in the 70s until one night at a shoreside dinner, a local walked in and said '' You have to go to your boat right now". The wind had shifted and the locals knew that the bay would be untenable in short order. Maybe the locals dont give warnings anymore(I doubt that) or they had a medical delay? or maybe they didnt liston to local advice and came close to losing boat and maybe life. Any way you look at it, it was a scary situation. Glad they made it.____Grant.

guess I'm wondering why they went out? The anchor seemed to be holding. But they were obviously late in going. The guy was very close to getting killed
