Books; Puget Sound

Hello,
For years I've been on sailboat owners forum. Now, I've increased my searches for cruising. My wife and I, want to relocate to Seattle/ Tacoma primarily PNW. Like many I might suppose. Currently, we are preparing to leave CT. Here, there's fine sailing around Long Island Sound, Fisher's Island Sound, Block Island and Buzzard's Bay. I've read a couple of tales and figure they're must be several for reading local tales of the San Juan Islands and Vancouver Isles.
Second, on the East Coast there's a tide book known as the 'Eldrige' which is very helpful to the auxiliary powered vessels. Is they're something similar on the Pacific?

A Google search on Puget Sound tides and currents

Captn. Jacks Tide & Current Almanac, 2013 Puget Sound Edition: Coastwise Press, LLC: 9781878258755: Amazon.com: Books

In addition, be aware of Waggoner's Guide and the Dreamspeaker Series.

Most marinas and some stores have free tide tables as the tide swings are 14+ ft. There are some passages and marinas we can not enter at low tide with our 6 ft draft. However, I do like sail boats as I figure if they can make it with their deep keel, so can we. Sails boats made great bottom finders.

In late Jnauary they is the Seattle boat and afloat show, the biggest on the west coast that you might find interesting. Late January is usully our coldest/stormest month, so you might change you mind. We are think of moving to the San Fransciso Delta bay area.

Washburne' table and current atlas are excellent for Vancouver Island. There are a lot of funky currents in among the Gulf Islands. Most chandleries in this area carry a Gulf Islands chart book; spiral bound with loads of information on anchorages and whatnot. About a hundred bucks but worth it. Quite a few books written about sailing the area. If no one posts some names I'll put out a couple examples once I get to my library.

Re: Books; Puget Sound

There's a wonderful series of books called "Gunkholing in the San Juan Islands" or gunkholing in the south puget sound, etc. They may be a dated, but lots of boaters here carry them on board because they have great human interest detail as well as practical info that is still useful. They really enhance the experience of cruising the Puget Sound.

Also, Waggoner's is a good all-around guide updated annually. We buy a new copy every two years or so. When you get here, go in any chandlery and you will find a good selection of local resources.
