Nice! A more accurate report and one that doesnt pull the punches as much as Afloat did.

Thank for the update.

I wonder how the insurance company will handle this claim.

This is an article from the US Coastguard site
A rescue’s success hinges upon EPIRB | Coast Guard News

Shows how helpful the EPIRB was in the rescue, but it would have been better if the EPIRB had been registered.

This is a half million dollar boat. Someone could easily go get it. Wouldn't be surprised if someone did. It has officially been abandoned, so it is up for grabs.

Foolish Sailor - Have you spoken with the skipper?

Havent been at the club much over winter as i wasnt racing this winter. Summer racing starts up April 25th so i will be back around and we will see. Dont know the guy personally so i cant exactly walk up and ask him, but it is a small club and I cant be the only one who is curious.

Will post here any info I get from the Skipper, only fair if he gets his say.

it would be a good idea if these expensive boats came with a permernent "spot" tracker to track their progress across the atlantic,
if these guys are really lucky it should end up un-assisted somewhere near its home port of cork, ireland in august.

i would love to be a fly on the wall at the royal cork yacht club when the boat finally arrives

I'm setting off on a round Ireland trip in June, I'll be keeping me eye out for a 48' Swan

Just ready to sail home. Sails intact, although the forestay is gone, riding high in the water, so apparently very little water in the hold.

I think, I'll go hang out in northern Bermuda, sounds like I might be able to find good yachts that no one wants.

These guys aren't sailors. I don't see how they can show up at the yot club after abandoning a perfectly good ship. Look at the waste and expense caused by this lack of fortitude. I'll bet some dopes are waiting in line to buy 'em drinks at the club bar.

Knockdowns happen.

Cherish are things on ice cream sundaes.

Hmm, I've been wanting to do some ocean sailing off of Long Island this summer.
I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for it if the Gulf Stream gets hold of it and brings it up this way.
