San Diego Sailor's Happy Hour

Who is up for a community wide, anything goes, Happy Hour social mixer? Break out of your rut and widen your social circle to include some random new friends with similar interests that are exactly like your old friends only totally different. Reply to this post and let's see if we can create a small wave of good times and blurry memories.
Cheers
Mike

Good idea! We are too far away to participate, but I think there is a San Diego social group he at CF...? That may be a better way to get the word out. We have a CF Texas group and have had a BBQ, lots of fun and good way to put a face to an avatar...in fact, I met my husband there :-)

Re: San Diego Sailor's Happy Hour

If only Captain's Quarters was still open. Sad, terribly sad.

I'm in, "we" might be in, depends on dates and babysitters. I don't think you guys want a toddler running around happy hour. Sort of ruins the tone.

So what's the latest on this?
Do we want to hit a tavern, or restaurant or have a BBQ at someone's house or on the beach?

Given that we have kids I would prefer to skip the tavern/pub/bar location.

Grab a baby sitter man! Nothing ruins the party vibe like responsibility.

Oh, and in answer to "what happened with this", similar to everything in San Diego, people just got lazy and stopped. :-)

All right! I feel the festivities warming up! I'm glad to see the interest in getting together. I would like to propose either the first Wednesday or the First Friday of every month. We can debate the venue as well. The day would dictate locations as there are various specials and even live music to be had depending on the night of the week we are most happy with.

For now, I will offer Wednesday, February 1st, at Desi's. 2734 Lytton St. 92110. Great food and Drink specials and live music starts at 7. It's across from Liberty Station. Reply here or mtstew@mac.com

Why not have it at a marina? BYOB. Then the kids, dogs and Bob your Uncle could come and enjoy.

Re: San Diego Sailor's Happy Hour

Mike, I'm 80% in. You're actually the second person this week to tell me about that place.

Regarding kids, I'm a proud and happy parent but if you want to talk shop and be adult, the kids (at least a 1 1/2 year old) needs to not be there.

Shut it down a year or so ago, moved the liquor license over to "the lighthouse grill", which sucks. Then a new place opened on Rosecrans as well called Harbor Tavern or something of the sort. At least the marina club is still open.

It is my hope that There will many future opportunities to BYOB at our many marinas, have family functions and much, much more. We have to start the ball rolling though, hence next Wednesday at Desi's. No kids this time.

Look for me around 5pm. I'll be the good looking one. Ha! In a blue Pacific Sailing Yacht Club t-shirt.

Awesome! One day away... Here is info on our destination:

Desi N Friends

Across from Sail Ho golf

2734 Lytton St
San Diego, CA 92110

I recommend parking on St Charles Place just west of Desi’s or in Sail Ho off of Truxtun Road. Better still, take a cab and don't worry about driving.
