Presentation: Anna Karin, our Vindö 45

Behold the new member of our family, Anna Karin. She is a “Vindö 45” born in 1983.

For some time now, we have been dreaming about calling a ship our own. Pretty soon we have decided that it will be a conservative long keeler. Since the last charter trip, particularly since “that night”, were more and more interested in Vindös.
Basically, we wanted to keep looking for “the one” for some time still, some 2-4 years. However, while looking at a second boat that we saw for sale during our vacation trips, Anna Karin spoke to us.
Thus, she belongs now to the family. She is not perfect, but she is ours.
Two weeks ago, we did the take-over. She went back to her winter storage directly thereafter, because of some work that must be done before she sees water again. This work is planned by myself, but will be the financial responsibility of the previous owner. Then there is some work that should be done before she sails, and there is work that can be done… So I keep planning for the winter.
We were considering changing the name. But the boat has always carried the name Anna Karin. You do not rename a new friend either once you meet.
Yesterday we were with her again; we had the engine winterized, and took the detailed list of equipment and material that came with her. Possibly, I will be able to visit her every 2-4 weeks in winter, so the relationship can be a fruitful one.

Congrats, were are you keeping her, in the Baltic?

I think one of her sister ships is on the UK E Bay site at the moment for about £65,000.

Yes, on the German Baltic coast.

As for the proces, they depend much on what was already changed on the old boat. In our case, we didn't pay that much. We had a surveyor and he found the structure was very sound. But we alraedy know we will have to change this and that. The deck for example
