Inexperienced Newbie wanting to learn

Hi all-
Thanks for the open invitation to join your ranks and learn from you all!
I always loved boats, never owned one and dream of retiring some day and living on a boat in a warm locale.. FL?
I do plan on getting a smaller one first though.
47 yrs young
I may ask obvious questions of the experienced boaters and cruisers, so please forgive me!
... Jay

Welcome aboard Jay, and greetings from SW Florida. There are plenty of knowledgeable boaters here to help.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
I sailed on lots of small boats before I bought my first small one. I got a 22 and it was a perfect size to learn boat maintenance on.

Re: Inexperienced Newbie wanting to learn

Welcome aboard. My first sailboat was a twenty-two footer, and it was a great boat on which to learn how to sail. Learning to sail is fairly easy. The hard part is learning how various yacht designs behave in different conditions, and finding a design that you works for you - that you are comfortable with. It's especially important to find one that works for you in rough seas and rotten weather. You will have to try a lot of different vessels to find one that works best for your.

Re: Inexperienced Newbie wanting to learn

Welcome to the forum. I think most of us learned on smaller boats. Mine was a MacGregor 21. Followed up with a few sailing dinks.
