Help, Already

Hello to all . I am sure this is a really dumb question but I want to post a picture of the mighty boat along with my details but the max size allowable is 400x400 pixels and the picture is 350x640. How do I change the size so it will be accepted.Apart from that nice to be here.

Try posting the image as is, shrimp, and watch the magic of the software take care of it. Oh, and welcome to Cruisers Forum.

Hmmm . . . alright, let me pass it on and see what's going on. Still, we're glad you're here. Be patient, we'll figure this out.

Welcome to the community. Are you trying to place a picture in your profile or in a thread? The 400x400 limit sounds like the profile picture limit.

Okay, you must be trying to post the image to your profile page. Photos posted in threads are auto-resized. You will have to crop the image to fit within the 400x400 pixel limit before posting it to your profile page.

Hi, shrimp, and welcome to CF.

If you're using a Microsoft operating system, you can use the Paint program to resize photos. It should be in "Accessories" in the Start menu. Or you could Google "crop photo" and you'll get a lot of links to free on-line photo re-sizing resources.

Instead of cropping (is cutting photo to size; you loose the edges) you may want to google for 'resize photo' Let me google that for you making it smaller (as in shrinking) put keeping the original layout. You will find a list of programs that will do the job for you. Google's own (free) Picasa will also do the job but can do lots more.
