Bahamas Bound

HI ALL, I am newly aboard the forum. I will be departing St. Augustine next week-end aboard Llyrical, Island Packet 380 cutter. I will run south and then I'm Bahamas bound. I hope to find buddy boats and cross either Miami to Bimini or Lake Worth to Westend. Once across, we will work our way through the Berry Islands to Nassau and then wander down through the Exumas. I would benefit from any suggestions about routing or connecting up with others?

It is a great trip. I have an IP 370 and will be heading over in April. Due a search on Morgans Bluff, that will bring up a number of threads that answer your questions. The only change I make is clearing in at Fresh Creek at the marina.

Good luck

If you are going to West End, I would go ahead and head to Abaco. Stop by Great Sail and anchor for some rest then head to Green Turtle. It is a great place to check in, even if it takes you a few days to get there (no problem mon). Just anchor out and dingy in to the Govt. dingy dock at GT. Marsh Harbor has good supplies and a good anchorage. Watch out crossing around the whale. It can get rough. Good luck, wish we were going too....."Island Dream"

I will be leaving end of March for the Bahamas. The Abacos are worth a visit but I would go south first using cold fronts. Then as the weather warms and the cold fronts diminish you can ride the prevailing winds back north. The Abacos are still too cold this time of year for me. Of course my blood is really thin.
