Hello from Seattle!

Hello!

My husband and I just bought our first boat- Isabelle, a coranado 25! We both like the name and are planning on keeping it even though its not been painted on yet. She will be moored less than a mile from our house in Salmon Bay so we are hoping to have lots of evening sails and tons of time to tinker about after work.

We take possesion of it May 1 and are both very very excited to start sailing again. We both have sailing experience but not very much. The husband has sailed on and off for about 7 years and I took a 6 week basic keel boat course from AMA about 4 years ago but definitely feel like I need a refresher. This seems like a nice starting boat for us boat newbies.

Also, I meant to add, we have a large dog (a pitbull terrier) that we hope to take along with us...We'll see how that goes- we have to get our sea legs before she gets hers!

We learned to sail on the Puget Sound on our Catalina 22, which we took possession of also on May 1st...................1981. You are going to have lots of fun! We were on the Sound almost everyday that summer, even made it up to the San Juans. Brings back mems. So go forth and sail!

Welcome aboard from the Port Gardner area. The first couple of time I'd recommend leaving the dog at home so that he/she doesn not add to the break-in confussion. Dogs feet do not stick to fiberglass decks very well.

The Coronado 25 is a great sailing little boat, roomy inside even though maybe not the sleekest looking outside.. I got beat by a few back when they were raced a lot!

Greetings! I used to keep my first boat around there at the Ballard Mill Marina. It was nice there with canal traffic to watch, and you could see when the locks were opening from the dock. Don't miss the Duck Dodges. Lake Union is a very cool place to sail in the evening as you watch the lights come up on the sky scrapers. I liked that feeling of sailing my boat in the middle of Downtown.

Yes, we are definitely planning on leaving our pup home for our first trips, and then we plan to keep her below when underway. We got her a life vest too, just in case.

We were really surprised how roomy the coronado 25 is below! Yes, not the most graceful boat, but definitely a good first boat. Personally, I think she is cute.

I am super excited to go to the San Juan Islands this summer, we probably won't feel comfortable going up there till early September. I grew up Kayaking around the islands on week long trips with my dad, and I was always jealous of the people sleeping on their sailboats

I've spent this last mending some small tears in the jib- the owner was nice enough to let us take it as he wasn't planning on sailing. I'll post pictures of Isabella when she gets all fixed up.

They are roomy below! I too have grown to actually like the exterior. It's very practical to bring the cabin top out to the side of the boat in smaller craft. You get a big walkway forward (who can tippitoe on 7" sidedecks anyway!) and room inside. Those boats are sleek underwater too. Do you have a good outboard?

Welcome, you will love the Coronado 25. That is my curent boat. I bought her as a learner boat last year, and have enjoyed every minute on her. If you want any tips on things to look at fixing PM me. There are a few things that could use improvment over the orginal design that are easy to do.

Awesome, thank you! I definitely will, we will be making our "to do" list this friday when we pick her up. I'm really excited, it feels like friday is christmas and I'm 5 and still believe in Santa.

Our outboard is pretty good I think- Its a Johnson 9.9. What kind of pups?
