Hello from Pender Harbour, BC

At last... after months of working our fingers to the bone in London (Ontario), we are on board on the west coast of Canada on our new-to-us sailboat. Too many years have passed from living in BC on the water to a life on land in central Canada - and we are both JUST GLAD to be back on board. Even if it's only at the dock for now.

Hmmm. Now to work through all those pesky problems which came up on our first voyage last summer. Most pressing is the water in the fuel for which we've installed a system of truck filters on our Perkins.

It seems to be working on the reserve tank and the filter is working great. We're now struggling with the filter for the main tank. Nothing is pulling the fuel up from the main tank. So, we're in the process of switching the feed from the reserve filter to the main filter to make sure the problem isn't the filter itself.

A slow process, but hey - the sun is shining, the water is warm and great for swimming... and if we weren't so lucky, we could still be in on land, or worse, in London!

Update for any naysayers

The truck filters (one per tank) work FABulously and the engine is working better than when we bought the boat. The wind is up and we're off!

Fuel system problems can be a pain, but it sounds like you've conquered yours. I like your boat's name. A former neighbor of ours has a boat by that name, so we learned that at least one translation is "Make Haste Slowly". Very appropriate for a sailboat.

Welcome aboard:

MNy soon was wearing his Pender Harbour BC T-shirt just the other day. We loved it there. Good luck with the fuel problems hope you get them sorted out soon.

Welcome aboard We've enjoyed stopping in Pender Harbor on the way to Queen Charlotte Sound. You live in a beautiful place. After the water problem is eliminated a biocide treatment might be good insurance. Jesse

Thumbs up Welcome aboard FestinaLente IV

Been to Pender Harbour a couple of times. (The spell checker doesn't like the Canadian spelling of Harbor.)

Anyway, I enjoyed my tour there, visited both stores and got to see the plane fly. Glad your fuel problem cleared.
