Hello from Galveston, TX

Trying to get the wife into sailing. Really want to purchase a boat but would like to introduce her to sailing first to make sure she's with me on this. Looking for someone in the Houston/Galveston area to help us out.

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, jamiecrab.

Good luck in finding an introductory sail, for your "smoking hot" wife. Hope she enjoys it.

Hi Jamiecrab!

We are currently in the midst of a major refit and aren't currently sailing other wise we'd be happy to help you out. As it is, the best recommendation I can give you is to suggest you sign your wife up for basic ASA courses here: Sailing Classes - Charter Courses - BayAreaSailing.com . Let her take the first courses by herself.

I highly, highly recommend waiting until you can get her in one of Joe Laughlin's classes. He is great with beginners and especially with women. I took a couple of classes there and had a not so great instructor ( wasn't just me, the other women in my class felt the same). I retook my courses with Joe and the difference was astonishing. My confidence and knowledge increased ten fold after just one day with Joe. I guess some people are just better teachers than others.

(FYI- I looked at the website and it looks like the Crappy Instructor is no longer there- not surprising. I have no knowledge of the other instructors but I'll stick with my previous rec.)
