Hello from a cruiser wanabe

I've been lurking here on the CF a few months now absorbing all the advise and experiences of the members. What a great group of members....thank you.

Cruising and liveaboard has been a strong dream for the past 15 years. I've read most of the books by Pardy, Hill, Casey, Toss etc. I have a Pearson Wanderer that will be ready to splash next year. I think she will be a good boat to start with for coastal and Caribbean cruising but I'm always open to constructive critique. I really want a boat with a shower so a Pearson 365 or the like may be in my future. I posted a couple of pictures in my profile.

All my sailing experience was on a local lake in a 17 ft Oday day sailer many years ago before children. I'm going to clean off the rust by getting ASA 101, 103 and 104 certified next month. I have concerns single handing since I lost my wife 3 years ago who was going to be a partner in this venture.

I hope that I will be able to contribute to this forum in the coming months and years and give back a little of what I have taken. I'm pretty good with diesel and gas engines so that may be a start. I've been working on them all my life not in boats though.

Again thank you for a great forum.

Re: Hello from a cruiser wanabe

Reills,

No home port yet. Next year Oneida Lake then the canal to Hudson or Lake Ontario. I like Oswego but want to go south for the winter. Don't know if I will get enough experience by then though to be reasonably safe. PM me.
