Hello Everyone

Just another "downunder" added to the list of newbies.

I currently hail from Geraldton Western Australia although I originated from Albany in the south of the state.

Most of my waking life has been associated with the water in some way or another.

In my younger days, I sailed on VJs and catamarans at the local yacht club.

Became interested in surfing and diving and graduated to those pastimes for many years.

Commercially fished around the Western Australian coastline. Hard way to make a quid doing that.

Some time ago, I purchased a yacht in Darwin, Northern Territory and sailed it down to Geraldton to refurbish. What a project!

I am not as far down the track as I would like to be but I am persevering as I am anxious to go cruising as soon as is practical.

The yacht by the way is a 59 foot steel ketch, Argonaut design bilge keel, very similar to the Boro design. She's not fast but has very good sea-keeping qualities.
She can't point as high as a lot of yachts due to the twin keels but she will sit well when the water dries in a tidal situation.

Came across this forum whilst browsing the Internet and joined in order to discuss and exchange ideas to improve the way we do things whilst afloat from seafarers who have "been there and done that."

Best wishes to all.

Blue Stocking

Hello Blue Stocking,

Thanks for the welcome.

Yes, give or take a couple of degrees, not far different either side of the equator.

Not sure what the weather is like your way.

Here, it is cooling down (autumn). Overcast today with a couple of spots of rain and generally calm conditions at the moment.

Cheers,

Brian.
