Hello everyone!

Hi there!

I am so glad that I found this website! Our sailboat's name is Pelican and she is on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I will be spending the next year (at least to Nov. 2008) learning as much as I can so we can head to the Florida Keys then and stay for the winter months.

My husband built Pelican which was no easy feat. I am so very proud of him and his workmanship. She is a sight to behold.

I'm looking forward to learning a lot from all of you!

There's a trawler over here in San Diego named Pelican. One day I was joking with the owner because he was depressed and I said "Pelican? More like Peli-can't". He got a chuckle out of that one.

Aloha S/V Pelican....Having built 3 boats from scratch, I know how time taxing it can be. I'm thrilled you made it to the water. Good luck and looking forward to your adventures.

article & photos of Pelican

Well, it's official - Robert is a published author as of today. The December 2007 issue of SouthWinds magazine has been posted on the internet. The paper issue is available at West Marine and other marine outlets.

Here's a link: Southwinds Sailing - Serving the Southern Cruising & Racing Sailor since 1993

This is the first of at least two installments.

It may take a few minutes to load because it's a large file but I think that you will find it very interesting.

Welcome Pelican

I have spent the last several years prepping and refitting my boat. Planning to sail out to the Carib next year also, perhaps we'll meet in the person.

Meanwhile, Welcome. This is an exciting group in here, you'll fit in fine, after all they let ME in.

PS nice article on Pelican too..
