Re: greetings

I have been sailing for forty years, and I am still learning things. So you are in good company if you are here to learn things.

Re: Greetings

Thanks for the welcome. I am looking foward to spring. I have two small lakes to take our "new" boat out on before I Go To Cave Run lake in KY. Then I need to sell one boat I could keep them both because they are so small but part of learning to sail might be learning to sell and letting someone else enjoy. A lot of boats rot on dry land.

Re: Greetings

Aloha and welcome aboard!
When I visit my in-laws in Lexington, KY I'm always looking around for bodies of water suitable for sailing and to see what boats are for sale.
Was up at Paducah looking around that area and there are some big lakes and rivers up that way.
I saw fj. Is that Flying Junior. If so, I have some experience with those.
kind regards,

Re: Greetings

Yes FJ is Flying Junior I am very close to Lexington. Let me know if you come to town. I can use Jacobson park for my little boats. Cave run is much better but is one hour from me. My other boat is a Sunfish not ready to go big yet. 13 ft is the limit LOL. I have had the Sunfish for a three years. I need to learn to sail with a jib and maybe fly a spinnaker before I go all in. Some day I will be in blue water . Crawl, walk, run, one step at a time. I grew up on lake Eire but had a poor first exposure to sailing by some (old salts ) that were just dock hands but that is in the past. Most of my time in the lake was spent in ski boats and a force 5 by amf. The only thing that put fear in us young ones was the price of gas and surface water temps below 50 Summer was so short. Now I fear the price of gas just as much and maybe even more and cold water is not off my list and life is so short.

Re: Greetings

I've got a lot of experience on Sunfish and Force 5s are a bit like Lasers except they have a hard chine. Both are great boats. If I get your way again I'll send you a message. I used to teach sailing in small sloops when younger and taught racing using spinnakers. Maybe we could get together and go over some stuff about your Flying Junior.
My wife and I looked around Richmond when out looking at properties in your area. Neat town!
kind regards,
