Greetings from Washington D.C.

Greetings to Sailors and Cruisers,

The cherry trees around the Washington Tidal Basin and monuments were beautiful yesterday, and today is the first day of the Cherry Blossom Festival celebrating the 100th anniversary of the gift of trees by the Mayor of Tokyo in 1912.

I am currently between overseas assignments, and plan to purchase a 40-50 foot water sailing">blue water sailing yacht after my next assignment, and start circumnavigating at a leisurely pace in about 2015.

In the near term, I hope to find an absentee boat owner in the D.C. area who would like a sailor to rent his boat to live on for about four months. Failing that, I'll rent an apartment and join a club for the next few months.

On a vicarious note, I have been enjoying the Volvo Ocean Race postings on youtube!

Welcome. We lived and worked in DC and the Virginia suburbs for years. It is a beautiful city to tour but the traffic is terrible.
