Greetings from the Med

Hi,

I have been using this forum as a great resource for a year or so now as we planned escaping the rat race, so thank you for all your useful chats. I am pleased to say that we are about to move onto our recently purchased boat and looking forward to enjoying the live aboard lifestyle.

It is Pete, myself and our 8 year old son Sam, and our vessel is a Moody 425. We are presently in Greece and we plan to spend a year or two in the mediterranean whilst we get used to the lifestyle and then we will be crossing some oceans. We are keen to meet up with other cruising families in the area, not sure the best way to find them at the moment.

I would love to chat to anyone who is home schooling their child, we are just about to embark on this and very interested to hear about other peoples experiences.

We are also considering adding to the family with a dog. Not sure if this is a wise idea or not!

Happy sailing :-)

Re: Greetings from the Med

Anna hi and welcome to CF. Excellent choice of yacht by the way

Lots of members in the med, suggest you put a post in the med Europe section saying were you are.

We sail with a dog, 40kg of Labradoodle. I can just lift him from a wobbly dinghy into the yacht but one day it will all go horribly wrong and the dog, or me or both are going to get very wet.

Thanks for that suggestion, will post in that forum you suggested. Your dog sounds great, but think we will go for something much smaller like a jack russel. I keep reading about the hoops that we will need to jump through when we arrive in different countries and get cold feet. But my Son is pushing hard for it and think it will be a great extra 'person' to have on board!

Welcome aboard. There is also a cruising with kids section here, lots of good info. All the cruising children I meet are really neat-o happy kids.
