At places, we did not find the people friendly at all. We know of cases when cruisers got attacked, robbed, etc. (Dinghy theft - St Maria & Praia, attack and robbery - Sal & Mindelho). Read Noonsite for more recent situation.
Mindelho marina much improved over last couple of years.
Some risk of Dengue and or Malaria.
ARC stops there - you may benefit from some false feeling of
security in the crowd. Otherwise, visiting with a group of befriended boats much recommended - theft from the
deck is pretty common in some anchorages.
Provisioning better done in the
Canaries.
Nice landscapes, sun and
wind guaranteed.
