Greetings!

Hello everyone!

I used to have a Catalina 25, 5-6 years ago. Lived on it most the time when I wasn't in my VW. Learned to sail thanks to the internet and some practice on the Great Lakes on a Sunfish while I was stationed up there for school (former Navy Corpsman.) Bought the Catalina when I moved to the coast and learned a bit more down there.

Wanted to take her, or similar, at least across the Atlantic. Cruise around for a few years after getting out of the Navy, but as life goes I had a son, sold my vessels of travel and became land locked. Life's good no regrets, but as my son ages I'd love to share with him the joy in sailing.

This summer, I would like to be able to acquire a vessel at least worthy enough to cross the Pamlico Sound, NC, to Ocracoke Island. Just kind of an objective, it would also be nice to cruise around the Outer Banks, generally. Maybe if the right boat pops up at the right time use it for perhaps a 2 week (or so) cruise wherever she took us.

So I'm here to join the community, as I don't really know anyone in real life into this, especially since I moved inland. Learn what I can and maybe one day share that as well. I'm spending the next few months while I save up and start provisioning, looking at local classifieds and maybe even calling some harbormasters. There's some excellent deals (I think there may have been a rash of divorces) and many of them are in great condition. Then there's always the fixer upper, which is always a fine line...eek.

So yea, that's me! Nice to meet everyone!

Re: Greetings!

GypsyBee, Welcome to the community. We've enjoyed much cruising in your area from Little Washington and out to Silver Lake; Elizabeth City and down to Oriental; Manteo is a favorite of ours too. Keep us posted of your adventures!
