Greetings!

Stopping in to say hello and introduce myself.

Living in SE Florida on the Treasure Coast. A Philadelphia transplant since July 2007. Single Mom, one grown and married and a 16 year old at home.
Housecleaner, bicycle commuter, water lover, tiny/simple living enthusiast.

I am planning my escape from the rat race to fulfill my dreams of travel, go cruising and periodically stop to earn for the cruising kitty when I turn 50 in the fall of 2015.

I sailed a little as a kid and LOVED it!! I'm planning on joining the US Sailing Center here in Martin County in the spring to take lessons and get a year's sailing under my belt. Then I'll look for a fixer-upper in spring of '15 and work on her to get her seaworthy by fall.

I was originally going to build a tiny house for myself but decided that living aboard/cruising on a sailboat would feed my gypsy soul's wandering nature.
I'm already very self-sufficient, independent and hard-working so I think I'll be well suited to the liveaboard lifestyle.

I've been lurking here for months reading the posts and finally decided to join the community, so to speak. I appreciate all of the knowledge and insights shared here by everyone and hope I can become a source of information and ideas to others as well.

Re: Greetings!

G'Day JG, and welcome to CF.

Sounds to me like you have a workable plan without the usual "I think I like sailing so I'm gonna buy a boat and circumnavigate... next week" baggage.

You will find great support both here in the cyberworld via CF and other sites, and more importantly, in the cruising community on the water.

Good luck, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Do be afraid to believe everything you hear in return!

Cheers,

Jim

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!

I feel fortunate to have found so many great resources online.

Forums like CF can be an excellent place to get feedback from lots of more experienced folks! It seems like no matter what I search for concerning cruising and liveaboard life there are always multiple threads on the subject here.

Thanks again for the welcome and have an excellent day!
