Bit the Bullet

I finally made a decision. After researching, (not nearly long enough) and soul searching, (for far too long) I finally reviewed the (not very) short list of prospective boat and finally made a decision and bought myself a 1976 Willard 8-ton cutter. Quiet Passage was in Lottsburg, Va., so after the survey and other dances a friend and I fueled her, rigged her, provisioned her and brought her south to her new home in North Carolina.

So I have now experienced one of the two happiest days in a boat owner's life.

She is safe and sound in her new home off the Pongo river and I am busy cleaning/organizing;learning her and will hopefully hard at sailing her in a month or so.

What a feeling.

Nice looking boat. Good luck.
You'll have plenty of happy days with a craft like that.

Love the looks of her! Now just raise those sails and point to sea. Congratulations

Nice looking yacht and CONGRATS!!! You've already done the hardest part (search, find, survey, etc..), everything else should be absolutely awesome!!

Thank you all for the enthusiastic welcome. This is a huge step, only owned a 19' daysailer before so this is a real step up. But she behaves herself well and is a solid, dry boat so I think we are going to get along just fine.

Cheers all

Alan

Congratulations, Alan. BTW, your 'tag' identifies your boat as "Looking at the moment." Might want to fix that!

That's a cool looking boat for sure. Great lines - It looks like a CSY. It's ready for the high seas.

Congrats on the fine looking vessel.

I've always contended that there should be 3 best days with one either being: getting home with no problems after your first sail; or the first day you don't beat to windward.
