Bust of luck to you. You are a good step ahead of us by having the boat. We are now looking for the boat and retire countdown is ticking. We wish you well and are sorry for the loss you had to suffer

Was just in Ensenada this last month and prices for an in water slip at Baja Naval was about $300 a month for a 35 footer. It is also a yard and haulout facility with a huge travel lift. No cheap dry storage there for your boat. Taking it to the Sea of Cortez in San Carlos would be good for cheap dry storage.

The reason prices are so high in Southern California is that all the Surfers from Texas wanted to settle there.

Old age sometimes gives you clarity, the answers for me would be simple ,live on your boat in Texas , money saved you can travel to surf, if the boat has sentimental value as it would for me i would live on it in Texas, otherwise sell it and by a boat where you like

Ensenada Cruiseport Village

Don't be faked out by the webpage for La Salina, it's very dangerous and socked in by sand.

Ensenada is a drop/pick up point for yacht delivery ships. You could contact Baja Naval they could direct you to a delivery service.

It was about 5k to take the Mason through the canal after all was said and done.

Was going to say it’s a long sail or an expensive land move.
Sounds fun. Sorry about your Dad.
My Dad gave me a boat he had since 1936 in 1959. It spent WWII in a barn. I was too young to boat alone so my boat sat on greased Timbers while I replaced 3 Bow to stern planks, transom and cabin roof. The rest of the boat slowly decayed but I kinda learned to sail.
Id spend at least a year in Texas to assure the boat and crew are ready and sail it.

Re: Baja Malibu. Well I have a boat now I'm trying to figure out how to keep it

I eventually sold my godrich, bought an islander 36. Lived on the boats for five years. Did a lot of coastal sailing, and learned a lot about working on boats. I sold my last sailboat, and bought a ram promaster van. A lot easier to travel in a van than a sailboat. I still love sailing. One of these day I will probably buy me a smaller sailboat.
