Are you in Ensenada? Please help...

Hi, Everybody.
I just joined the forum and I need some help...
I am interested in a yacht that's for sale but she's in Ensenada, Mexico - I am currently in Galapagos and will be stuck here for a while.
So I'm looking for someone with a digital camera and an internet connection in Ensenada to go to the yacht and send me a few pics, just to give me a better idea of the condition she is in.
If you can help, please pm me.
Thanks!

Welcome aboard Crusiers Forum, Mainstay. I am definitely far from Ensenada but maybe someone will be along that could help.

Can the owner send you pictures?

Hi, Dan.
Thanks for the welcome.
The problem is that I'm dealing with a broker in San Diego, I think. He can only refer me to surveyors in the San Diego area but I'm not prepared to spend too much money yet for a surveyor. The owner is also not aboard the boat - it's been sitting unattended at anchor for the last two years...! So, the pictures in the broker's add are probably two years old, therefore I'd like to see a few "now" pictures and decide whether it's worth pursuing.

What do you think: where on the forum will I get the most reaction if I'm looking for help in this regard?

Probably the monohull forum (assuming it's amono) or the Pacific Oceans section of the Destinations area.

Hello, Mainstay, and welcome to CF. I wonder if a few digital photos will really tell you anything useful about the boat. Cosmetic issues can be dealt with fairly easily, but it's what lurks beneath the surface that is the real issue.

As Hud said it is what the camera won't show. I would think since the broker is only 60 miles away. That it would be worth his time to venture down, and take some pics. The anchorage there is quite large, and protected well too. The Navalyard is quite inexpensive, and honest. At least they were in 93 when I need them......BEST WISHES in getting the information needed.....i2f

There is a good shipyard there....Baja Naval.........very honest and capable. You can find their contact info. on the internet. I had a boat hauled by them about 3 years ago and they did good work and were honest.

Mainstay,

If the boat's been at anchor unattended for two years I would not hold out much hope for a decent looking boat. Anyone seriously trying to sell a boat would not leave it unattended at anchor for two years. It's nearly impossible to sell a boat without putting it in a marina or yard or at least at a dock somewhere.

Hey, guys!
Thanks for the advice, especially about the yard in Ensenada - I'll definately follow up on that.
The boat is being advertised as a project boat - understandably after two years of sitting at anchor...! - but I'd just like to get and idea of HOW BIG a project it will be. If she's structurally still sound, there might still be potential... That's why I want someone independant to go take pictures: I know they'll show more than hide...!
If anything develops, I'll keep you all posted.
Cheers!
