pirate A Young Couple on a Mission ...

Hello everyone, my wife and I are a 20 something couple who recently decided to simplify our lives, buy a 34 foot Oday and enjoy our youth cruising and seeing whats out there. We have gotten rid of most non-essentials and decided to move aboard. We are not well-off or by no means rich but we know that to enjoy our lives, we don't need to be. We have our sailboat and each other and are looking forward to meeting many fellow boaters out on the open water.

Re: A young couple on a mission...

Welcome to the forum. Did something very similar in my younger days and never regretted it. Spent several years cruising the Bahamas and Caribbean. Had to do it on a very small budget but the experience was priceless.

Re: A young couple on a mission...

Good for you! Just get out and do it. Just met a very nice young man whose grandfather gave him a 30' ish sloop. Did not know how to sail or navigate. He is now with the cruising community here in Abaco after a straight shot from Maryland.

Re: A young couple on a mission...

Excellent news!! To hear of a young couple going for it and not waiting until they are old farts (like so many of us perhaps?!) with too big of a boat and too many systems. Keep it simple and go, go, go!!! What's that old corny saying "in 20 years you'll have more regret over the things you haven't done rather than the things you have" or something along those lines. Good for you!
