Tug sinks. Cook survives 2 days at 100'

Amazing! I think I'd be out buying lottery tickets!
Ship's cook survived for TWO DAYS trapped underneath sinking tugboat as ten of his crewmates perished in Atlantic Ocean tragedy

That must have been a very long two days for him!

Good on the divers and their professional work. http://www.cruisersforum.com/images/smilies/flowers.gif

It's never over until it's over. Amazing story of survival.

I hope it was a big chamber and not one of those coffin sized ones where you feel like a bullet in a gun barrel. I hated those, I couldn't even get my arms up to turn the pages of the book.

I dunno, can you take some sedative in one of them smaller ones while you decompress, or is that medically impossible?

Never asked, but I suspect that's a bad idea medically as you say. Of course we never had to spend that much time in a chamber because we only stayed down in six hour shifts (max). I'll have to check the tables on that though - that decompression time doesn't sound right to me even if he was down there two days.

You don't think somebody could have been mis-quoted?

Re: Tug sinks. Cook survives 2 days at 100'

I have to wonder if the guy even knew he was that deep or if the boat had even sunk. Obviously the effects of a stormy ocean swell would have ceased once the ship left the surface. Leaves a lot of questions begging...like how did he wind up in a sealed room...what was the air pressure like...how did the rescue divers know he was there. Be nice to have the FULL story.
