The 'Vasa' Warship from 1628 Getting a Refit

If you ever go to Stockholm you should go to the Vasa museum to see what cruising was all about back in the serious square rigger days. The story of the ship's misfortune and its recovery 1/3 of a millennium later are equally captivating.

I still remember the evening when the only TV channel news broadcast Aktuellt announced that Vasa had been found. I also remember when it was announced on April 1st that the ship was to be raised from the bottom; "This has to be a joke, right ?".

Sweden`s 17th century warship gets a facelift is the story about the refit.

Re: The Vasa warship from 1628 getting a refit

I can enthusiastically confirm that the Vasa is extremely well presented in Stockholm and well worth a visit. When you see the freeboard of that ship you can appreciate why it capsized so quickly after being launched. Naval architecture was not as highly developed then as it is today!
