Re: The Mallorca Squad

If you guys don't mind the occasional American crashing the party, we are leaving Morocco today and headed your direction. We have a relative who is staying in Palma teaching English, so we will stop by for a few days to visit him.

If you see a 15 meter blue cutter flying the US flag, stop and say hello.

Cheers!

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Steve & Laura, of course you're welcome! It sounds like you have a local tour guide but if you need any local marine info, feel free to PM me. Will you be looking for a mooring, or stay at anchor? There is some unsettled wx going thru at the moment so we will be in port in Palma for the next week or so and would be happy to meet up if you're close by.

Fair winds...

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Well, short story, it was great. The wx going was perfect with the exception of a squall the first night at anchor which had us all up & watching, but we held fine & had no conflicts. Otherwise light tail winds, glassy water, a slight following sea, and lots of dolphins. We didn't even get salty until we hit the entrance to the Strait. We had a few pleasant hours in Marbella, wandered the old town, & had a great seafood dinner. We really enjoyed Marbella. The only downer there were the hoards of mosquitos which chewed me to bits.

We'd planned on a day in Gib but spent a second day waiting for strong E'erlys & big sea to pass. Gib was good but I've posted my comments over on the thread "A day or two in Gib" ( which has since devolved into another VAT discussion). I also posted our impressions of the Spanish mainland coast over on the thread asking in the French, Spain, Med mainland coast is worth visiting. Short version, we were just rushing down the coast so we didn't have time to sight see. It didn't inspire us with an urge to go back for a closer look though. I think we are pretty spoiled here on Mallorca!

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Prairie and hubby are semi permanent boaters in Mallorca. The bedrock of the Squad.

I have business connections on the Island and commute frequently, yet of late am working in Sevilla until at least Christmas, and I hope to take a week or two in Palma.

Hope you guys all have a nice time together... the Island is so very beautiful.

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Well, connection made by virtue of my recognizing Steve & Laura's boat name ... Just down the quay! We will see them again later.

Interestingly, no PM yet received several hours later. Sneakernet faster than the Internet today!

Weavis, are you hanging out in the UK these days, or in Sevilla?

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Hi Folks

Saw this forum and thought I'd introduce myself.

My name is PJ Kelly and I'm fully retired. I have a schooner berthed at Club de Mar in Palma. She keeps me busy.

Looking forward to sharing info with the group and meeting some of the members.

Best

PJ

Re: The Mallorca Squad

Hola Kelly! Welcome to the squad.

We are just a few marinas down the paseo from you Quite often my walks take me past Club de Mar. PM me with your boat name & pantalon if you wish. If time permits, I'll stop by & say hello. We are only here for a few more days though, and we always get busy toward the end of our trips, so no promises. If not this year, We will try for next.
