We missed breakfast on the day she had to fly back to Seville. I was getting anxious about her not eating when she pulled out a bag with the bars in it. She had a beautiful smile on her face. "Gracias mi amor" she said while planting kisses all over my face. " Eat" I said..." oh dear Lord please eat".

An interesting time....

Excellent advice, doctor, although I can say with a fair bit of personal experience that this phenomenom is not confined to Cuban women. But I was never smart enough to consider the deployment of emergency stashes of energy bars, strategically placed no less. Probably why I remain single.

No visible warning signs whatsoever....

But from my experience... There never are before a meltdown....

In my experience, there are some warning signs.....

However in Cuba I guess they prefer the total surprise method......

In one of my more recent experiences, if there were warning signs I completely missed them. Funny, everything seemed fine last night, but this morning's apparently a brand new day. I suppose the silent treatment could be considered a warning sign, but I always treated it as a reprieve. Funny how that attitude didn't go over all that well either. The meltdowns became so frequent that I actually started keeping a log. The all-time record interval b'twn. meltdowns was 13 days, but the mean was more like 3-4. Often times my mischevious, spoiled rotten bulldog was in never-ending trouble as well, but that too only increased the avg. meltdown frequency for me. And of course all the meltdowns were of the nuclear type, meaning absolutely nothing left living upon completion. I'd liken it to the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction, but there was really nothing mutual about it, except for her being M-A-D, along with me & the dog's destruction.

So anyway, best of luck with it, Weav.

I am truly glad that this episode was of a physiological nature. I can deal with that. I also post event think it triggered an underneath emotional state that needed to surface for us to deal with, although to be fair, nuclear powered took me by the short and curlies.... That I did not expect.

It moved our relationship, walk whatever you call it into a different place and far more open and with more understanding of what each is dealing with.

Now if she goes nuclear, it will be because of something that I, a mere male has done. I might yet come to miss the good old days of altered blood chemistry...

But at least, I am back to sleeping with one eye open instead of two....

PS.. love to the innocent victim of all this, the dog.

Mine was a Force 10, until she melted down and became a Force 12. Fortunately she gave me an ultimatum that if I went out sailing on my old boat again, and it broke and caused me to be a week-plus late getting home again, then she'd no longer stick around. Some guys have all the luck, and I'm also quite happy to say the dog was quite pleased with the new arrangement too.

Rocky-THE-bulldog always appreciates the love Weav, but I'm afraid there's nothing innocent about that 'lil stinker. A legend in his own mind that bad boy is. But what can I do as merely his personal assistant, and a lowly human at that? Nope, so long as Rocky gets whatever he wants whenever he wants it, all is well. Hmmmm . . . how come that approach didn't work with what's-her-name?

But a strictly physiological issue easily fixed with bananas & energy bars sounds much more encouraging. And of course if/when it goes nuclear it will unquestionably be something you have done. After all, we must never forget to apologize to our female partners when they are clearly in the wrong.

We anchored near there two summers ago, Looks very familiar, deep so you need to anchor in very close, just off someone's back yard. Was kinda rocky rolly in the morning, so we left early. We were outside the harbor entrance, in the lower right corner of the picture.
