Here's a strange dreamy kind of boat song...Strange boat by the Waterboys

Lusty sailor meets lusty wench...Yarmouth Town by Planxty

Did someone say "Sea Shanty"? South Australia by the Pogues

Finally, a song by Ry Cooder and the Chieftains, Irelands national treasure...for anyone who has dreamed of far off distant shores...

Re: Share Your Favorite Music of the Sea!

Hey ... the Irish aren't the only people with Sea Chanties. The Greeks have them too! Trata is a famous song about the sea and fishing. The movements of the dance supposedly mimic hauling-in nets ... but that might be in the eye of the beholder.

For pure COMIC cheezy appeal

and for a more serious version with some pix of boats ...

And Lets not forget our SURFING friends who took the greek song Miserlou as their anthem:

Thank thanks to the "Yacht Rock" Post. Hilarious.

Where do I start...how about Ocean Rising by New Model Army. A little ode to Shakleton's perilous journey to save his crew:

Or for something more piraty, The Decemberists Mariner's Revenge Song:
