Re: Poll: Ban from Joke Thread?

People who post sexist jokes on public forums should be banned from the Forum.

We have moderators that chime in every time Uncle Sam is given a bad name. Where are they when disgusting jokes get posted?

I mean.... Not much sense in posting to the joke thread if most folk don't want to read my offerings. That would be sort of like standing on a soapbox on the street corner babbling at whatever.

This is a public forum - much akin to the Rome Colosseum where the crowd (members) roars their opinions and the Emperor (the mods) give thumbs up or down (allow/delete the post).

So go ahead, crowd. Roar away!

Yesterday they deleted a post of mine to protect the easily-disgusted from the horror of seeing letters that could have been cut-and-pasted to spell a rude word.

I thought it was funny and relatively inoffensive - but I don't have the job of keeping the peace and trying to please everyone.

Had a different - sarcastic and (I thought) funny - response prepared today, with all the letters of the o--ending word blanked out.
Thought better of it... The Man would prob'ly have snipped it anyway.

Hello? Anyone? D'oh...

Nah, I vote that as punishment you can ONLY post in the joke thread. That'll teach you...

Re: Poll: Ban from Joke Thread?

No statistical significance in a poll that lets some dumb old muffer tick all the boxes, innit?

Sorry

Oh, reading between the pretty coloured lines gives a sense of the community's attitude. As of this post it's running something like:
Yes/Absolutely = 6,
No/No Way = 15,
Shrug/don't care, really etc. = all the rest.

The poll was up long enough that most regular readers of The New Joke Thread probably saw the cross link and voted - or chose not to vote. Point being that only six kind hearted and lovely folk want me hung, drawn & quartered, kicked out of the universe and/or otherwise discarded into the dust bin of history! Or something.

But more than double that number say stick around. {Everybody else is pretty much "take it or leave it".}

BTW: Did anybody notice that the kick-him-out choices have a red line and the stick around choices are in blue? Anger vs Calm. Just saying!

The community gave voice and I've learned what I wanted to know: Should I stay or should I go. {That's a song, innit?} Humor is, well, a personal thing, right? On an international forum like CF there is bound to be differences between reasonable folk. Let alone (edit: Be nice, James.)

But after this post hits the street further poll results should probably be taken with a grain of salt. Not that any of our cherished CF community would revisit the poll and attempt to, well, massage those results. <ahem>

Thanks for playing!
James

Now, now.... Everything's fine. You'll be okay. Go right ahead and keep playing with the pretty colored lines.

Don't worry that the Fate of the Free World rests with your artful renderings.
