My Dad has Gone to 'Fiddlers Green'

Some may have noticed my absence from this forum.

It is coming up on three weeks since my Dad passed.

He was at home in his favourite chair.

He was 90

A Part of the "Greatest Generation"

A WWII Veteran
It wasn't until he registered with the VA did I truly know of the Decorations and Battle Stars.

A Sailor, Powerboater and Mechanic

Some on this board have met him.

He was one of several mentors I have had in the Marine Trades.

I am amazed at the number of calls and e-mails I have gotten
as word has spread via the "Jungle Drums" of the Marine Industry

But from the sound of it he lived a full life, loved and was loved in return...

My condolences and may he RIP. My father passed away New Years Day. Not in his favorite chair but at home and peacefully at age 84. He was also a WWII vet. Dad wasn't a sailor but he taught me plenty of other things.

Cheif and Doddles, my condolences as well. I think dads of sailors are an extra special breed. My father freely handed me many things he sacrificed and worked very hard to get. One of the best gifts was the love I have for the sea. Given to me through my fathers stories and dreams when I was very young. Here's to those dads who once long ago when we were young, bent down and placed their hand on their sons shoulders and gave one of the very best gifts with the other hand by pointing to the sea.
