Re: I've had enough!

I will not offer to drive you anywhere Bill, but let me know if you decide to sell the C22. best plan is do not read the papers or watch the news. Then you do not know about it and do not get all steamed up because ignorance is bliss.

Coops.

In that case I'll come to the dock and wave. Crying will cost you.

We in the US have lost our desire to be rugged individualists, embrace Capitalism and Democracy and have chosen the Nanny State and Socialism to solve all of our problems. There are those of us who feel the same way you do in Australia but I must warn you: we have lost the battle. The problem is: where do we go? As they say south of the border: Viva la Revolucion. It's coming to a theater near you.
I don't object to paying tax for a good health system or required services BUT I do object, strongly, to Pollies WASTING billions of our tax dollars on hair brained projects! As for our retailers, they have been used to having a captive client base for to long...They charge what they believe they can get away with but the Internet has changed all that, we can now shop wherever we like and I like shopping in the States, the UK, Europe or China, wherever I can get a fair price. I even shop here in AU when the price is comparable

G'day Coops mate,

I hear you loud and clear on the news front
The C22 is for sale, has been for a couple of months now, perhaps I should offer it to the government as a training vessel, I reckon asking $500,000 for my boat would seem like a bargain to those bods

Send me a PM if you're interested in the C22

Bill

Re: I've had enough!

billAU - you're 70 years old. i'm 70 years old. we've got 10, maybe at the most 20, years left that we might be physically able to go do whatever we want to do. so forget about the taxes, thieving politicians, welfare cheats, oil barons, nosy neighbors, doubting relatives, ungrateful children, et al. go live the life you dream of.

the future of the world is, to me anyway, now the concern of the younger generations. it is the world that they will live in for the next fifty or more years. you and me are on the way out; the exit sign may be just over the next hill (or wave). so don't concern yourself with the state of australia or of the whole world for that matter. just go live and do whatever you want.

and if you run out of money or your health hits bottom you can always go back to oz.

-----------------------------------------

it's not too late to live happily ever after.

Whilst you are enjoying your tax free cigarettes, you may want to return to Australia for lung cancer treatment - it's free. While you are enjoying your idyllic lifestyle, don't seek police assistance unless you have several brown paper bags full of money, and while you are in Aus feel free to criticize the Government, but do be careful elsewhere.
Enjoy your cheap booze and ciggies, but don't give up your Australian citizenship.
I do appreciate our, low on the government list of priorities, health care system and the overworked doctors, nurses and other staff, I've no objections to help pay for that system with the 62.5% tobacco tax and the many other 10% taxes I pay. I simply object strongly to the billions of dollars wasted by our state and federal government, plus the pay rises and index linked guaranteed pensions they pay themselves! Most of those b*****ds could not boil an egg nor lie straight in bed so why do we put-up with their BS, which by the way, cost us billions of dollars! When are they going to be held responsible for their stupid, money wasting actions?
If they worked for a business and wasted a fraction of that sort of money, they would be fired, sued, loose their homes and bank accounts, and most likely jailed but hey! They're politicians! So I guess that makes it okay for them to waste all that tax payers money on some crazy scheme.

I also object strongly to supermarkets prices rising just about every day, while our farmers are still going broke from supermarkets squezing them out of business...Then the SM imports the foods from China or wherever.
Then there's power and water...All out to screw us, with the blessings of our government it seems...It never ends!

Don't expect the governments of developing countries to be better. The level of corruption is usually much worse ... bribes, police you can't trust, WASTE you wouldn't believe, etc. You can't spend all your time at sea so you'll have to deal with it.

The new problems may make the old frustrations seem like a piece of cake.

Re: I've had enough!

Sometime after 1917 Russian farmers killed all their live stock and then were themselves either killed or put into camps by the Soviets.Russia suffers today because of their action , and we sell them a lot of chicken today. If you look at the stock market in the U.S. this week you can see we started killing off our live stock. Where ever you go Bill take what chickens you can carry and dont leave anything behind but the feathers

Re: I've had enough!

Bill, you pays your money and plays your choices, as they say at the horse races. Remember that some blissfully cheaper places to live, like Thailand, have averaged, what is it? One military coupe every year for the last 14 years?

Medical care, retirement benefits, weather, one way or another, you pay wherever you go. Paradise? Has a ten year waiting list and you can't stay there more than six months unless you marry one of the locals, or bring in more than a million dollars to invest in the local economy.

Cigarette tax? Just wait till they get around to taxing tea. <G>

Wrong. Ignorance isn't bliss - BillAU has just proved that. His rants in this thread read like a cross between yet another ignorant shock jock and a defeated, whinging Donald Trump - and he seems far from blissful to me.

Re: I've had enough!

No matter which side of the pond you are on, if you are in your declining years, have worked your butt of all your life, have a bit saved up which the government already has its eyes on when you die, sit back wherever you are, enjoy life and laugh at the younger generations who have voted in these idiots who can't balance their own checkbook, let alone behave in a fiscally responsible manner.
They are the ones who will be living under a horrible burden of their country unable to pay their debt, screwing every last one of these young pups out of every dollar (US or AU) they try and earn. Here in the US we reached the tipping point during the last administration when there were more sitting in the wagon than those pulling it.
Best to direct the youngsters to look at Greece where the unemployment rate for those under 27 is over 50% with no hope of ever finding meaningful employment.
I'm just glad I lived through the salad years when you worked hard, played hard and have no regrets. Trying to run from reality will just bring you heartache, my friend. Better to stick around and have the last laugh on the socialist generation than to die sitting on the hook somewhere with none of your mates around. Cheers, Phil
