What U.S. State is Best for Liveaboard Boaters?

This ties in with my previous thread...

But what U.S. state do you think is best to be a liveaboard boater? As for costs, availability of liveaboard slips and marinas, the boating atmosphere, friendliness toward to liveaboards, amenties, etc.

I've added a poll with all the seaside and lakeside states.

Most states like Florida, my liveaboard home base since 1972, have a wide variety of very different regions. The panhandle, Southwest Coast, Keys, Palm Beach to Miami,and Northeast Florida might as well be different states. Green Cove Springs and South Beach are as different as countries with cultures speaking different languages! I choose Florida, but I would not check the poll because most would think it was a vote for the other Florida.

Seriously - This will be a flawed result and should not be confused with data.

People will vote for the place they are currently living aboard or they will make a guess or they will vote based on some pre-conceived idea of nirvana.

If you quantify the parameters you may be able to measure the results.

I'm not sure there is a "best" state. For one thing, like CaptForce says, in some states, like FL (and CA for that matter) there is a huge difference in what it's like to live aboard in one part of the state compared to another.

Then, like a sailboat, every state will be a compromise and I would hate to pick one because I would feel like I was endorsing the bad parts with the good.

So I would say, the best state to live aboard is the collective east coast. Summers in New England, winters in FL, in between seasons in between the two areas.
