I used to drink good wine out of plastic and then met some people drinking box wine out of glass.... thought there was something wrong somewhere so swithed to glass.

Minor attrition rate... I use either short stem when formal dining or tumblers in the cockpit....also have dedicated Pisco Sour glasses....

Yeah, Ping, we drink box wine out of stemware, glass stemware, when we are puttin' on the dog. But because both Ann and I tend to wave our arms about as we talk, we tend to use glass tumblers most of the time!

And I find it hard to believe that there are folks who would deny boarding (after an invitation to do so) because you brought glass. We've been doing this cruising thing for a long time, and no one has ever acted like that towards us. Seems pretty out of line in a cruising environment... but it takes all kinds...

Finally... Pisco Sours! It has been so many years since I had one... used to have a Peruvian friend, and his family introduced me to that beverage. I remember (kinda vaguely, dunno why) that t hey were seductively delicious. But Dan Murphy seldom seems to stock Pisco, so I guess I'll just have to rely on memory!

I have seen Pisco in DM's but not the premixed stuff.

Making your own is an aquired art. You need that liquid sugar solution stuff as ordinary 'dry sugar' is a bugger to get to dissolve correctly in the quantities required. ..and of course you need rather a lot of lemons.

I hope you don't put the box on the table but decant it first.

Depends on who is watching!!

But w hen we do decant it, it goes into a bottle that once contained Mount Pleasant OPOH Shiraz, 2010 (a pretty fine and pricey vintage). We find that after residing in that bottle for a few hours, the plonk tastes much better.

I usually decant my wine but somehow putting it into a used peanut butter jar doesn't seem to impress anyone.

Decant wine?

H*ll, I decant cheap spirits into expensive bottles. I refuse to serve my good scotch (and some other spirits) to someone who wants to mix it with flavoured, sugary fizzy water.
