I told my kids I was going to have my name and under it, 'International Sails Director', and Sandra could be 'Sailsgirl'.

They threatened to cut off my allowance, take away my toys, and put me in an old age home, so I guess that takes care of that!

Very true, Capt. Lulz, but in the cruising world we really don't care or are impressed by how "professional" the boat card looks, we simply want a convenient way to remember our new friends and communicate with them down the seaway. Life is a lot more relaxed when cruising and vanity a lot less important.

I agree,- and one of the most impressive cards we received was a quick line drawing of a boat on a blank card and signed. After passing our cruising card to them, this couple produced a simple work of art that made a clear statement of unpretentious freedom.

Thanks osirssail, I was going to make the exact same comment. In over ten years of printing our own cards on board with our printer we have never had anyone mention how unprofessional our cards were, quite the opposite we have had lots of positive comments from fellow cruisers. When sailing through Belize or up the Rio Dulce and we ran out of boat cards, the printing companies were few and far between. If we were only sailing out of our local yacht club it might not be an issue. Chuck

Yep, we used Vistaprint, just payed the postage, got free stamp as well (great for boat documents) - eg clearance through customs/ quarantine etc

Since we are aboard quite often it is much easier to simply print cards as needed. I made my free business cards at http://bizcardcreator.com.
I didn't have to pay anything and printing myself means I don't have to be at any specific place to have them sent to me.

Leaving space to scribble stuff on (before handing over) is the most useful part of a business card

and one oft forgot by the overkeen "designer"

i used to have cards with my name and professional info . i find cards are restrictive. i dont do cards-never was a good yuppie----if i enjoy someones company i will try to remember to photograph them , their boats, or what it is as sooo much fun. (remembering, of course, that taking pictures removes the soul of the individual being photographed)
